AKD are up for an award at the first Suffolk Chamber Patrons Business Awards 2008.
AKD are hoping to scoop its first award on Thursday 20th November at the very first Suffolk Chamber of Commerce & Lowestoft Town Management Partnership Business Awards 2008.
As finalists to win the “Jeldwen Manufacturing Award” AKD are keen to prove they continue to be a company enthusiastic in growth, and support its local community by constantly supplying top quality products worldwide.
In 1955 AKD Engineering began as a small supplier of marine components to the local fishing industry with just a small team.  As the company grew, AKD expanded and began supplying diesel engines, also for the fishing and marine industry.  Following the demise of the fishing industry in the 1980’s, while the oil and gas sector was booming, AKD embraced the opportunity to grow and follow its vision as it does today, by displaying its transferable skills into other industries demonstrating diversity, leadership and ambition all combined with its sharp business judgement to spot market opportunities.
AKD began the transition by supplying smaller fabricated subsea items to the oil & gas industry, by comparison today, we now supply a wide variety of high integrity fabricated and machined items to an array of major clients within the industry.  AKD now boast a team of 125 employees and hope to continue its successful growth, winning this award would be a fantastic step in that journey!
