In 2004 AKD invested in modern premises purpose built on 7.5 acres in Lowestoft to cope with it's continual growth and client requirements. The extent of the site, combined with continual investment and the range of facilities on board, makes it one of the best equipped facilities of its type.
Our Facilities allow us to carry out a wide range of fabrication projects ranging from general fabrication such as landing platforms, deck extensions, and protection structures to high integrity specialist fabrication, such as access bridges, subsea spools and flowbases to name but a few. Also AKD have the facility to tackle single machined items up to 10 tonnes and PAU's (pre assembled units) up to 300 tonnes. Facilities and equipment include but are not limited to:
- Fabrication Shops: 4000 M² with 20 Tonnes overhead craneage
- 40 Tonnes mobile yard craneage
- Comprehensive welding equipment
- NDT Equipment
- Pressure Test Facilities
- Indoor Storage
- Well equipped clean shops
AKD's premises also have access to an adjacent quayside facility. This enables AKD to execute open air quayside fabrications up to 500 tonnes for direct load out onto barges and vessels.
AKD prides itself on its high integrity welding capabilities, and has specialist skills in welding materials including carbon steels, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex and other exotic alloys. Welding procedures are qualified to AWS D1.1, EEMUA, ASME 1X, NORSOK, and BS EN 15614-1, BS4515 pt.1 & 2 and ES 124/106 standards utilising a wide range of industrial welding techniques for complex structures, pressure vessels and piping.
AKD are at the forefront of welding technology with an extensive library of welding procedures supported by a team of highly qualified welders working an all types of welding processes including MMA, FCAW, TIG and SAW.
You also have the choice of providing us with the drawings of your fabrication requirements or we can manage the design, or assist with the design of your requirements.
Our extensive facilities enable us to provide you with the support you require worldwide, and to further assist you. We also offer a full suite of offshore services including offshore personnel which will support the installation of any of the fabricated items that you may require on any installation in the world.
