In addition to AKD's core business activities, we now also offer a range of offshore services. AKD can provide a full suite of offshore services to cover most work-scopes associated with decommissioning (plant and equipment / removal of platforms & structures), offshore installation and commissioning, upgrades, refurbishment and repair work on any offshore installation in the world.
After several years of successfully supplying offshore services to the Southern North Sea (SNS) for AJS ONEgas, via a term contract. AKD then followed a natural progression into this field with Genesis / Tullow and landed a £1m+ project in 2008 for the tieback and modification of the top side of an unmanned SNS platform.
The work included the design and fabrication of the deck extension, the design and fabrication of the walkway, support structure and deck anchor plates. It also included the design for new and modified piping systems, new control and communication upgrades and also the installation works offshore. Attention was paid to ensure all HSE issues were accommodated with regards to installation works, and there were no lost time due to injuries to report.
Following this achievement, AKD were motivated to span further into this field, and following the completion of two smaller offshore contracts and proving their capabilities, AKD further secured in 2009 a multi million pound contract with AF Decom / Shell for the Inde field decommissioning. The workscope was further expanded and AKD are not only carried out the offshore fabrication and installation to support the decommissioning of the platforms, but also managed the electrical control systems, scaffolding, NDE inspection and heat treatment and project managed the design of the emergency lighting.
